WHEREAS, the City of Cypress proudly commemorates its 70th Anniversary, marking seven decades of growth, progress, community spirit, and civic achievement since its incorporation in 1956; and

WHEREAS, throughout its history, Cypress has evolved from its agricultural roots into a vibrant community, distinguished by its commitment to public service, economic vitality, public safety, and an exceptional quality of life for residents and businesses; and

WHEREAS, the success of Cypress has been made possible through the dedication and vision of its residents, community leaders, businesses, public safety professionals, and volunteers who have worked together to build a welcoming and prosperous city; and

WHEREAS, the year 2026 also marks the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America, commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, and celebrating two and a half centuries of freedom, democracy, opportunity, and self-governance; and

WHEREAS, the American ideals of liberty, equality, civic engagement, and representative government have inspired generations of citizens to contribute to the strength and resilience of their communities, including the City of Cypress; and

WHEREAS, the story of Cypress reflects the broader American story. A story of progress, perseverance, innovation, and the shared pursuit of a brighter future for all; and

WHEREAS, as Cypress celebrates seventy years of municipal service and community achievement, it joins communities across the nation in honoring America’s 250-year journey and reaffirming the principles that unite and inspire us; and

WHEREAS, this dual celebration provides an opportunity to reflect upon our history, honor those who came before us, recognize the contributions of current residents, and inspire future generations to continue building a community and nation worthy of their aspirations;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of Cypress, California, do hereby recognize and celebrate The 70th Anniversary of the City of Cypress and the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America and encourage all residents, businesses and community organizations, to participate in commemorative activities, reflect upon the rich history of our city and nation, celebrate the achievements of the past, and renew our commitment to civic engagement, unity, service, and the enduring values that have shaped both Cypress and America.

BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED, that this anniversary year shall serve as a reminder that the strength of our community and our nation rests in the active participation of its people and in our collective dedication to preserving the freedoms and opportunities that define the American experience.
