ELECTION & VOTER INFORMATION

The City of Cypress is a charter city with a five-member legislative body. The November 3, 2026, Election marks the final step in the process of moving from at-large elections to district-based elections.

Each of the five City Council Members are directly elected by the registered voters of their district. The positions of Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem are ceremonial in nature and not directly elected. In December of every year, the City Council nominates a Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem amongst themselves and those individual nominated and voted on positions serve a calendar year.

The next general municipal election for the City of Cypress will be held on November 3, 2026, for three Council seats (Districts 1, 2 and 5). Districts 3 and 4, for full terms, will be voted upon in November 2028.
