The Information Technology (IT) Division oversees the City’s computer systems, networks, network security, website, document imaging, Internet connection and financial applications. The division is also responsible for implementing the Technology Master Plan, which is approved annually by the City Council.
The Information Technology Division manages the systems, equipment and infrastructure that connect City facilities, support employees and power essential City services.

The City uses standardized PC hardware and operating systems. Employees use Microsoft productivity software and operating systems at their workstations.
IT staff support all City departments, including Finance and Administration, Planning, Police, Public Works, and Recreation and Community Services.
IT staff maintain major departmental systems, the City’s data center and the network infrastructure that powers City applications through a centralized virtual server environment.
The division maintains hundreds of devices, including personal computers, ruggedized mobile computers, in-car video systems and mobile handheld devices. IT also manages servers, switches, wireless access points, firewalls and other network infrastructure.
In addition to standardized office and email software, IT supports numerous applications specific to individual City departments. The division also manages the City’s Internet connection and updates to the City’s website, www.cypressca.org.
