City of Cypress Youth Action Committee
9th-12th grade

Meets first Wednesday of every month (September 2026 – May 2027)

The Youth Action Committee (YAC), provides opportunities for high school teens to gain volunteer experience through assistance in Citywide special events, formal monthly meetings, attending City Council and Commission meetings, and researching various items in order to contribute to the Recreation and Community Services strategic plan. Additionally, they partner with the Cypress School District and coordinate with Boys & Girls Club of Central Orange Coast to offer tutoring to elementary school students.

Applications are available beginning Monday, May 11th at the Cypress Community Center or directly from this webpage. The application period will close once 40 applications have been submitted or by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16th, whichever comes first. Applications must be returned to the Cypress Community Center. Members are selected based on application, availability, and interview. Applications sent via e-mail or by mail will not be accepted.

Requirements:

1. Must be a Cypress resident or attend high school in Cypress.
2. No older than 18 years of age.
3. Required to volunteer a minimum of 40 volunteer hours.
4. Must carry a 2.5 GPA (excluding Physical Fitness) from the 2025-2026 school year.
