City of Cypress Receives Distinguished Budget Award

CYPRESS, Calif. — The City of Cypress is proud to announce it has earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association in recognition of the City’s most recent adopted budget, marking the seventh consecutive year the City has received the honor.

The award is presented to government agencies that meet nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. To earn the distinction, the City’s budget document was evaluated on its ability to serve as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications tool. A budget must be rated proficient in all required categories and criteria to receive the award.

“Our residents expect thoughtful stewardship of public funds, and this award demonstrates the high standards our City Council and staff uphold in managing Cypress’ finances,” said Mayor Leo Medrano. “We are proud of the disciplined planning and transparency that guide our budget process each year.”

The Government Finance Officers Association represents public finance officials throughout North America and promotes excellence in government finance through best practices, professional development and practical research.
