Help Keep Cypress' Sewers Fat Free

Fats, oils, and greases (FOG) can have negative impacts on sewer systems including causing sewage spills, manhole overflows, or sewage backups in homes and businesses.  A large percentage of sewer system blockages can be traced to FOG.  

In an effort to maintain the integrity of the City's sewer system and prevent system blockages that can result in sewage spills, the City has developed a FOG program to increase awareness and provide education to the operators of local food service establishments and their employees.  

State regulations require all cities to develop such programs to include an annual permit process, an annual inspection, and the implementation of best management practices.

The City has created a FOG Program Manual for food service establishment operators to provide a greater understanding of the requirements of the program.  Additional documents relative to the FOG Program are listed below:
