Join us for our popular Summer Aquatics Program taught by our outstanding certified instructors. Group, Semi-Private, You & Me, and Adult Lessons June 5 - July 15 at Cypress High School Outdoor Pool, 9801 Valley View Street, Cypress. Class times are Monday - Friday, 11:30am - 3:30pm & 6:00 - 8:00pm, Saturdays, 9:00am - 12:00pm.

-Instructors will test students on the first day of class and advise of any necessary class transfers.

-Parents/Guardians need to stay at the pool during their child’s swim lessons in case of an emergency and to receive up to date class information.

Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Refunds and transfer requests must be submitted to the Recreation Office by 5:00pm, the Friday before the start of the session. Parents and guardians MUST register their own children.

YOU & ME LESSONS (Ratio: 1:10)
This class is designed to introduce the child to the aquatic environment in a fun and safe manner and will emphasize float and roll life saving techniques. One parent or guardian (minimum 18 yrs) must be in the pool with each child (due to pool space, we can only allow one parent or guardian in per child). 

SEMI-PRIVATE LESSONS (Ratio 1:3)
These lessons provide the participant with the opportunity to learn at his/her own pace.  Students will be divided into groups of two or three by ability, with an emphasis on skill progression. Weekday semi-private lessons will be offered Monday through Friday for one Week, ages 3-14. Saturday semi-private lessons will be every Saturday, except July 4, for four weeks for ages 3yrs and over, including adults.

GROUP LESSONS (Ratio: 1:8)
Beginning (Ages 4-12)
Instructors will test students on the first day of class and place them into appropriate beginning levels. Children will progress through levels and will learn skills including:

  • Water confidence
  • Tummy and back floating
  • Front crawl with side breathing
  • Introduction to elementary backstroke
  • Independent swimming

Intermediate (Ages 4-14)

  • Must be able to swim front crawl with side breathing independently
  • Must be able to swim elementary backstroke independently
  • Introduction to breaststroke
  • Further development in previous strokes
  • Must be able to complete a 5 minute timed swim independently
  • Goggles are highly recommended for this class

Swimmers (Ages 4-14)

  • Must be able to complete a 10 minute timed swim using front crawl, breaststroke & elementary backstroke independently
  • Introduction to competitive style backstroke and butterfly
  • Further development in previous strokes
  • Goggles are highly recommended for this class

Pre-Competitive (Ages 8-15)

This class develops stroke technique, as well as prepares the swimmer for team competition. Students must be able to swim all four competitive strokes (freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly). Goggles are highly recommended for this class. Class must have a minimum of five (5) students or it may be cancelled.

Adult Lessons (Ages 14 & over)

Designed for the adult who would like to brush up on their strokes and for those who have no swimming experience.  Class allows participants to learn at their own pace.  Class must have a minimum of five (5) people or it may be cancelled.
