Tri-City Women's Conference a Regional Success
The Tri-City Women’s Conference hosted a record number of attendees on Wednesday, September 21, at the Cypress Community Center. This was the first year that the City of Cypress partnered with the Cities of Los Alamitos and Seal Beach to expand the women’s conference to a regional event. State and local political leaders, business leaders, members of the community, and students from Cypress College, Cypress High School, Kennedy High School, Los Alamitos High School, and Oxford Academy were in attendance.
The conference featured Keynote Speaker, Kelly Vlahakis-Hanks, President and CEO of Earth Friendly Products, who delivered a highly motivational and educational address. Additionally, the conference presented several breakout session speakers with valuable information on a variety of topics.
The Tri-City Women’s Conference honored three award recipients for their notable contributions and active service to the communities of Cypress, Los Alamitos and Seal Beach. Judy Wagner was recognized as the Cypress Woman of the Year, Frieda Caplan was recognized as the Los Alamitos Woman of the Year, and Deb Machen was recognized as the Seal Beach Woman of the Year.
Cypress Mayor Mariellen Yarc, who served as the Mistress of Ceremonies for the event, said, “Our first Tri-City Women’s Conference was a great success! I am so glad that we were able to partner with our neighboring cities to put together a fantastic program for the women in our communities. This year in particular, we had many wonderful speakers who provided insight and inspiration for our students. I hope this event encourages them to pursue their passions and strive for success!”
