Mayor Pro Tem Stacy Berry Elected to SCAG Regional Council and OCCOG Board of Directors
On January 25, 2018, Mayor Pro Tem Stacy Berry was elected as the District 18 representative on the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) Regional Council and the Orange County Council of Government (OCCOG) Board of Directors. District 18 comprises the cities of Cypress, Garden Grove, and La Palma. Eligible voters for the election consisted of the Mayors and Council Members of the District 18 cities. Berry received unanimous support from her Cypress City Council colleagues in the election. As the District 18 representative, Mayor Pro Tem Berry will represent all three cities on both the OCCOG Board of Directors and SCAG Regional Council.
“I am honored to have been selected to represent District 18 on the OCCOG Board of Directors and SCAG Regional Council. This critical position provides the cities of Cypress, Garden Grove, and La Palma a voice in regional planning issues that impact Orange County and the entire Southern California region. I look forward to representing the best interests of the communities in our District,” said Berry.
The Orange County Council of Governments (OCCOG) serves as Orange County’s sub-regional planning organization. In partnership with the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), OCCOG leads the development of Orange County’s required planning documents so that the county can compete for state and federal funding. OCCOG provides opportunities for local government agencies to engage cooperatively on matters important to the county as a whole. OCCOG representatives also serve on the SCAG Regional Council to make sure Orange County’s voice is heard when regional policy-making takes place.
